An upstairs flood is every homeowner’s nightmare. This year it happened to us. Drywall was soaked, carpets and hardwood floors destroyed. For the first time ever we had to make a claim on our homeowner’s insurance policy. Everything was in upheaval.
But Maurer Construction stepped in and helped us through the process of negotiating fair compensation from our insurance company, and then step-by-step they got things back in order. It is a wonderful relief to have everything tided up—it’s” home” again!
And thanks to Maurer Construction, our home has actually been improved and is now in better shape than it was before the flood. Our new hardwood floors gleam, good quality carpets are soft underfoot, the accent moldings are superbly crafted, and the carefully painted walls now have a delightful texture. And Maurer Construction kept within budget, too, which proves that if you pick the right people you can have it both ways—superb craftsmanship and competitive pricing.
If a customer is okay with “good enough” standards, rough workmanship, potential project delays and serious cost overruns, then just about any contractor will do. But if homeowners take genuine pride in their home, and are also careful with their money, Maurer Construction is an excellent choice.

As the prices of homes continued to rise in San Diego during 2005-6, it became evident that we would be best to remodel and update the townhome that offered convenience to the beach, restaurants and major freeways. During a vacation flight, we sketched out our thoughts on a napkin and for the next year sought out contractors to help us. Some were too big, some were too small, when we found Maurer Construction—they were just right!
The pictures speak for themselves and we enjoy our new living space that gives us a "big home feel" in an efficient space with all the bells and whistles. The Maurer team offered some great suggestions that you can see incorporated including ceiling mounted speakers, computerized lighting system that offered a variety of lighting combinations, automatic lighting when you walk in the pantry and power where you need it!
They were willing to venture into unknown areas that included foot pedals for water controls at the sink, replicating a ceiling soffit to image the island tabletop, redesigning the heating vents and many more innovations.

In the fourth quarter of 2006 we began plans to upgrade our office facilities to better meet the needs of our clients and our growing financial planning firm. We had committed to lease a relatively small, 1200 square foot office suite, and while small, the ultimate configuration and appearance of the suite was of utmost importance in our efforts to accommodate our practice growth and ensure our clients were comfortable as we worked with them.
In early 2007 we began a search for a qualified, proven contractor to implement our tenant improvement needs. The project included framing, drywall, texture coating, electrical, lighting, flooring, insulation, drop ceiling and roofing elements. We carefully screened several prospective contractors and eventually hired Maurer Construction for the job. In the project analysis and bid phase, Bill was prompt and thorough in his communications with us. Throughout the project itself, we were updated on a daily basis as to progress and any previously unanticipated decisions that needed to be made. We were never surprised by any unanticipated charges that we did not thoroughly understand and approve of. Bill's sub contractors were clean, courteous, skilled, and respectful.
The end result is that we now have an office suite to accommodate our growth for the coming decade constructed with exceptional quality, at a very reasonable price, and on time. We not only would not hesitate to recommend Maurer construction, but have already done so on two occasions during our project.
